Mr. and Mrs. Michael James Polichetti
St. Hedwig’s Roman Catholic Church in Dunkirk was the setting Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017 for a 2 p.m. Nuptial Mass uniting in marriage Roxanne Adele Herrington and Michael James Polichetti. The Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Joseph Walter of Fredonia.
The bride is the daughter of Mary Ann Herrington of Dunkirk and the late Frank Herrington. Louis and Susan Polichetti of Dunkirk are the parents of the groom.
Escorted to the altar by her mother, the bride wore a Cosmobella strapless tulle gown accented with beading at the sweetheart neckline and dropped waist. Her borrowed veil complemented the gown. On the bride’s wrist was a diamond cross, a family heirloom handed down from the groom’s aunt, Michele Hill. Sewn inside the bridal dress was a cut-out blue heart inscribed with her late father’s name “Frank” and made from his shirt. The bridal bouquet of fresh-cut flowers contained a picture charm of the bride’s father with the inscription, “Walk with me today and always.”
Readings were given by Michele Hill of Dunkirk and Roxanne McCarty of Bloomingdale, godmother of the bride. Intercessory prayers were read by Lorraine Cole of Dunkirk, great-aunt of the groom. Family friends Dennis and Lynn Newcomb of Perrysburg served as gift bearers.
The bridal attendants, all dressed in full-length plum gowns, were Teresa Diaz of Amherst, matron of honor; and bridesmaids Madison Kozlowski of Dunkirk, Alex Calbi of Olean, Jessica McCutcheon of Hanover, Pennsylvania, Tamara Racino of Fredonia, Leah Woodard of Buffalo and Cassie Cochran of Oklahoma.
Joseph Polichetti of Dunkirk served as best man for his brother. Groomsmen were Erik Horton of Parker, Colorado, Darius Goodworth of Brooklyn, Jeff Hill, uncle of the groom, and Marcus Promber, both of Dunkirk; and Andy Valentin and David Harriger, both of Fredonia.
Mariska Promber of Dunkirk served as flower girl and Jaxon Watts of Dunkirk as ring bearer.
The beautiful music throughout the church service was the combined effort of Frances Page, organist; and Timothy Van Wey.
Prior to the double-ring ceremony, the mothers of the bride and groom participated in the preliminary lighting of the unity candle. The newlyweds later lit the unity candle and placed a bouquet of flowers before a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
A reception was held at the Clarion Hotel with music provided by DJ Joe Gould.
