Harold and Lois (Ognibene) Smith were to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 14. They were married at St. Anthony’s Church on Cushing Street in Fredonia. They had their reception at the Elks Club in Dunkirk. Harold is a retired mathematics and physics teacher with 34 years of teaching at Brocton Central School. He also served as Portland Town supervisor for 12 years.

Lois worked at the Chautauqua County Mental Health Clinic after graduating from Jamestown Business College. She recently retired from the Board of Elections as a Portland election inspector after 20 years of service. She is very active in the Preceptor Beta Epsilon Sorority where she has been a member for 41 years.

They have three grown children, Robert (Cheryl), Kirk, Kathleen(Eric) Murtaugh and four granddaughters, Andrea and Emily Smith, Quinn and Kiley Murtaugh.
