November 14, 1896 – Celoron, a village beloved for its lakeside charm, was officially incorporated. The village soon blossomed into a vibrant community and popular summer destination, especially with the establishment of Celoron Park, which attracted thousands to its shores and added greatly to Chautauqua Lake’s recreational appeal.
November 14, 1967 – The American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 418 was formed, representing employees in Jamestown’s Streets, Parks, Recreation, and Conservation Departments. This local chapter empowered municipal workers and bolstered efforts to improve public services and local labor conditions.
