Chautauqua Rails to Trails commemorative event of Prospect Station train wreck tragedy
Prospect Station Trailhead near 7000 Fish Road, Westfield, 2 p.m. After ¼ mile hike to the accident site, President Emeritus Jim Fincher will relate the story of the tragedy. Current President Bill Ward will offer remarks, perform his original composition “Christmas Eve at Prospect Station.” Refreshments will be served upon return. Wendy Lewellen’s fundraising book “Good Soles: Chautauqua Rails to Trails Namesakes and Trailblazers” will be available for a suggested donation. For details, call 716 753-2800.

The Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk, will hold open adoption hours from noon to 3 p.m. The public is welcome to see the dogs and cats in need of loving homes.
