OLMC Youth Group learns lessons in generosity and service
On Saturday, Feb. 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., a cold, 27 degree and slightly snowing day, six members from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Youth Group in Silver Creek: Ashley Gilman, Rhianna Nasal, Eric Overmeyer, Angelina Rand, Sean Rand, Timothy Torres, along with Mrs. Rosemary Rand and Mrs. Aimee Rogers, stood outside at the Fredonia Wal-Mart asking the patrons for donations for the St. Gianna Pregnancy Outreach Center in Fredonia.
Through the generosity of those Wal-Mart patrons the youth were able to collect $400 in cash and over four shopping carts full of diapers, clothing and other items for babies and young children!
After they were done, the group dropped off all the donations at the pregnancy center and were invited for hot cocoa, snacks and a tour. While they were there a young couple with bags and boxes in hand, came and explained that they had shopped for the pregnancy center but when they came out, the youth group was gone for the day. With the address on the list tha
It was a beautiful day as the youth witnessed the generosity of others and they also learned how they are the voice, hands and feet for God in service to those in need! The youth group would like to thank each donor and especially Fredonia Wal-Mart for allowing them to stand outside their doors so the group could help others!
