Collage Center notes strong showings for dance
The Collage Performing Arts Center is proud to announce the recent accomplishments of their competitive dance teams.
The Majestic Mini, Youth and junior competitive dance teams have qualified for the 2024 National Dance Team Championships. The junior and youth majestic teams attended a five day UDA summer dance intensive and regional dance championship in Chicago and came away with the Home dance routine first place trophy and an additional Superior trophy for earning the All-Star Dance Championships.
The event was host to dance teams from throughout the northeast battling for a spot to compete at the prestigious national dance team championships held in Walt Disney World in February 2024. The Mini Majestic Dance team attend a four day UDA dance camp at Slippery Rock University where they earned a first place in the home routine competition and earned the team drill down award. The Mini team also earned First place in the All-Star dance division and earned a spot on the national competition roster next year.
The Majestic competitive dance program has 40 dancers from all over Chautauqua County ages 5-18 competing in jazz, pom and variety dance divisions. Mya Carmona and Lilly Snyder serve as team captains and the older teams are coached by Jenna Mansfield and Mariah Wojciechowski. The youth and mini teams are coached by Collage Artistic director Marci Williams-Hadley.
Several outstanding dancers competed in the individual “All-American Individual Dancer” competition at Slippery Rock University and in Chicago. These dancers were required to attend extra dance classes and perform jazz, pom, hip-hop and high kick dance skills in a routine judged by a panel of 5 professionals. Majestic team members Lilly Snyder, Ella Duliba, Adriana Kubacki, Kearstin Witkowski, Emma Perry, Audrina Cappa were selected as outstanding UDA All-Americans in the high school division and Peyton Krenzer, Harper Anderson, Aria Marquez, Mia Drummond and Ellie Brown were selected as All-Americans in the youth Competition. The All-Americans each received gold medals for their accomplishment.
The team will be performing at the annual Fredonia Farm Festival parade before starting a new year of dance training.
All dance team members receive their dance technique training at the Collage Performing Arts Center. Team members are required to take a minimum of 12 hours of dance training per week and attend mandatory team practice sessions.
