Area native releases new book on health

Dr. Tina M. Penhollow’s book is on the topic of senior health.

Fredonia native Dr. Tina M. Penhollow, an expert in health science, has recently published her latest book, “Sex in The Villages: Unconventional Tips to Enhance Sexual Health and Wellness in Retirement,” marking a significant contribution to the field of sexual health and aging. Daughter of Duane W. and Christine A. Penhollow, Dr. Penhollow’s academic journey began in Fredonia and has propelled her to national recognition.

A graduate of Fredonia High School in 1998, Dr. Penhollow earned her Bachelor of Science with honors in Health Services Administration from SUNY College at Fredonia in 2001. She continued her education by earning a Master of Science in Health Education from the University of West Florida in Pensacola and a Ph.D. in Health Science from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

With an ambition to empower others with science-based health strategies, she became one of the first professionals in the United States to earn the credential of Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES). Dr. Penhollow is an Associate Professor of Health Science in the Department of Exercise Science and Health Promotion at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla.

Penhollow is a widely published author in aging, physical fitness, and sexual health wellness.

Her groundbreaking research has been featured in leading scientific journals and prominent media outlets such as Cosmopolitan, Women’s Health, the Los Angeles Times, and the London Times, bringing her insights to diverse audiences worldwide. She is also the author of two popular books designed to enrich life in retirement: Women’s Guide to Retirement: 101 Fun Activities for a Happy Life in Your Golden Years and Men’s Guide to Retirement: 101 Fun Activities for a Happy Life in Your Golden Years.
