Foundation donates $10,000 for JCC nursing

The SUNY Jamestown Community College Foundation recently received a $10,000 gift from the Michael Boedo Community Foundation. The gift endows the Michael Boedo Foundation Emergency Relief Fund, which will support the JCC Nursing program for years to come.
The money will be used to assist full-time Nursing students who may be challenged to meet everyday or program-related expenses, allowing them to focus on their studies. The Michael Boedo Community Foundation initially gave JCC a $1,000 gift last summer to help Nursing students.
Brian Boedo established the Micheal Boedo Community Foundation in memory of his brother Michael, who was a phlebotomist at TLC-Lakeshore Health Center in Irving before he died from an accidental overdose in 2017.
The Michael Boedo Community Foundation raises awareness about overdose, addiction, and mental health while supporting youth-based groups and providing scholarships to students continuing their education. The organization is hosting a meat raffle fundraiser at 1 p.m. on March 23 at the Silver Creek Fireman’s Club.
The JCC Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization that supports college projects and activities.
