CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
— KIANTONE — At about 10:18 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to Kiantone Road for a report of a single vehicle rollover. The operator of the vehicle, who was uninjured, was identified as Benjamin Eggleston, 33, of Ashville. An investigation into the accident found Eggleston was operating the vehicle while intoxicated.
Eggleston was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a BAC of 0.08% or greater, and failure to keep right. He is to be in town court later.
— SILVER CREEK — Around 5:30 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to a vehicle complaint of an erratic operator on Buffalo Street. Before deputies arrived on scene it was reported the suspect vehicle in question had crashed in the front yard of a residence.
Upon arrival deputies found the suspect driver who identified himself as Allen W. Harris III, 26, of Forestville. Through investigation it was found that Harris was driving under the influence of alcohol while a juvenile was in the vehicle.
Harris was then taken into custody and transported to the Hanover station without incident. He will be in town court later.
JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
— Jacob A. Michael, 30, of Jamestown, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon second-degree menacing and endangering the welfare of a child after a large fight Friday night.
At 11:23 p.m., officers responded to the area of Newland Avenue and Charles Street for a report of a large fight. Upon arrival, officers were advised that the group consisting of juveniles had mostly scattered.
Through an investigation it was found that during the fight, a nearby neighbor had come out of his residence and pointed a handgun equipped with a laser at the group. The male was identified on scene as Michael. He was placed in to custody without incident and transported to the city jail where he was held pending arraignment. Officers were also able to locate and secure the weapon, a loaded 9mm handgun that was used in the incident.
— Paul A. Russo, 48, of Jamestown, was charged with resisting arrest, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal impersonation and being a fugitive from justice. At 10:19 p.m. Friday, officers were conducting a warrant check at a west side residence when officers made contact with Russo. Officers were aware of an outstanding warrant from the Jamestown Police Department, Fredonia Police Department and an additional warrant from Bradford, Pa.
In an attempt to prevent being arrested, Russo identified himself as another person. Once officers determined that Russo was impersonating another, he attempted to flee on foot to prevent arrest. After a brief foot pursuit, Russo was taken into custody.
During a search incident to arrest, officers located a quantity of Hydrocodone bitartrate which is a controlled substance. He was held pending arraignment in the Jamestown City Jail.
