CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY COURT
— MAYVILLE — Garry Pinkney, 25, of the Bronx, was sentenced Thursday by Chautauqua County Court Judge David W. Foley to 1.5 to 3 years in state prison after he was convicted of second-degree attempted assault, a class E felony.
While serving a state prison term on a 2018 conviction at Lakeview Correctional Facility, Pinkney attacked and injured a correctional officer.
“An assault on any person is bad enough, but any attack on the men and women who serve our community and put themselves in harm’s way to protect the rest of us is terrible and egregious,” said county District Attorney Jason Schmidt. “I hope this conviction sends a message to the community that these types of crimes will not be tolerated in Chautauqua County.”
This sentence is to be added to Pinkney’s current state prison term. He was also sentenced as a predicate felon as this is Pinkney’s second felony conviction within 10 years.
Schmidt would like to thank the Corrections Officer and staff at Lakeview Correctional Facility for their assistance in prosecuting this case and the New York State Police for their work on the investigation.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Andrew Molitor.
