CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

– SHERIDAN – Dustin Strain, 23, of Ripley was charged Sunday with driving while intoxicated. Deputies stopped a vehicle in the area of Route 20 and King Road for an observed infraction. The male operator was immediately suspected of driving the motor vehicle in an intoxicated state. He was transported to the Sheriff’s Office substation in Hanover where he was processed for the arrest. Strain was later released and is scheduled to appear in Sheridan Town Court at a later date.

– BEMUS POINT – A motorcyclist, whose name was not released, was injured in a motorcycle accident Sunday night. Deputies responded to a motor vehicle personal injury accident around 6:30 p.m. on Route 430 near Weaver Road. The male operator was traveling west bound when he went off of the roadway, causing the accident. The male was later transported via Medivac to UPMC Hamot for his injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

– SINCLAIRVILLE – Kevin L. Bellardo, 28, of Lakewood was charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop Monday on Sinclair Drive around 6:10 p.m. He was placed in custody and transported to the Sheriff’s Office for processing. He was later released with citations to appear in the Charlotte Town Court at a later date.

– MAYVILLE – Andrew Studley, 43, of Dunkirk was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance Sunday evening. Deputies responded to a call for a suspicious vehicle parked outside a residence on Valley Street around 11:30 p.m. Further investigation into the incident revealed that Studley was allegedly in possession of a quantity of fentanyl. He was transported to the Sheriff’s Office and processed for the arrest. He was later booked into the county jail to await centralized arraignment.

– MAYVILLE – Robert Shumaker Jr., 44, of Mayville was charged early Tuesday morning with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree criminal contempt. Shortly after midnight deputies responded to a residence in the village for an unwanted subject. It is alleged that Shumaker was in possession of a loaded firearm, which was prohibited from a previous felony conviction. There was also an Order of Protection out of County Court prohibiting him from possessing a firearm.
