JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

— Jamal M. Jackson, 32, of Jamestown, was charged Monday with two counts of fourth-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, seventh-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and second-degree Obstructing Governmental Administration. According to police, at about 4:30 p.m., officers observed a vehicle commit some vehicle and traffic violations near Prendergast Avenue and Kingsbury Street. Police said the vehicle was stopped, and during the stop, Jackson appeared to be impaired, and was asked to exit his vehicle. When exiting, Jackson began to flee on foot from officers, and while fleeing, Jackson allegedly threw several bags containing drugs to the ground. Police said officers soon apprehended Jackson, and he was taken to the Jamestown City Jail. Police said officers recovered 27.2 grams of methamphetamine, and 8.7 grams of fentanyl. Upon arrival at jail, Jackson was allegedly found to be in possession of a small amount of crack cocaine.

GOWANDA POLICE DEPARTMENT

— GOWANDA — A Gowanda woman is facing several charges after allegedly brandishing a knife in an altercation. Sara S. Alsaad, 24, was involved in an altercation with a female acquaintance at a residence on North Water Street in Gowanda on Dec. 13.

Gowanda Police arrived at 12:08 p.m. that afternoon to learn that a verbal altercation had escalated to a physical confrontation, in which Alsaad allegedly brandished a large knife and threatened the other individual. The victim was cut on her arm from the knife as Alsaad was disarmed prior to Gowanda Police’s arrival.

Alsaad was arrested on charges of assault, menacing, reckless endangerment, and harassment – all in the second degree. Alsaad was arraigned in the Town of Persia Court and later released on her own recognizance to reappear in court at a later date.

— LAWTONS — More than three months after allegedly breaking the windshield of a car in Gowanda, James R. Nelms, 41, faces an additional charge after being located Dec. 20 while in possession of crack cocaine.

Gowanda Police located Nelms walking on Torrence Place at approximately 7:50 p.m., Dec. 20. Nelms was stopped and arrested on a warrant issued by the Town of Collins Court following a report that he had intentionally broken the windshield of a car on Mechanic Street on Sept. 5.

While being frisked by an officer during his arrest, Gowanda Police discovered three rocks of crack cocaine in Nelms’ front pocket. He was arrested for criminal mischief in the third degree from the warrant, along with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree upon discovery of the drugs in his possession.

Nelms was released on a ticket to appear in the Town of Collins Court for the criminal mischief charge, and received another ticket to appear in the Town of Persia Court for the possession charge.

— GOWANDA — New York State Police assisted the Gowanda Police Department in the apprehension of a Gowanda woman with two outstanding warrants.

Jersey L. Silverheels, 22, was apprehended by State Police on Dec. 11, at approximately 5 p.m., with warrants out for her arrest following an alleged theft that occurred at Shop ‘N Save in Gowanda.

Silverheels was previously arrested for petit larceny due to the incident, but failed to appear in court to answer for the charge. A warrant was then issued for her arrest and she was banned from re-entering the store.

Silverheels did not abide by the ban and later entered the store again. She was not located by Gowanda Police at the time, but a warrant was then issued by the Town of Collins Court for the charge of criminal trespass.

When State Police encountered Silverheels on Dec. 11, she was taken in for processing in various jurisdictions on pending warrants. She was then turned over to Gowanda Police.

Silverheels was released on an appearance ticket in the Town of Collins Court.
