CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
— At around 2:21 a.m. Sunday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Route 60 in the town of Pomfret. The operator was identified as Julian C. Martin, 21 of Dunkirk. Further investigation found Martin to be Driving While Intoxicated. Martin was charged with DWI , DWI per se, and speed in zone, and will answer charges later.
— ELLICOTT — At 2:24 a.m. Saturday, deputies conducted a traffic stop in the Town of Ellicott. Upon investigation it was found that Matthew J. Dinger, 36, of Chautauquawas operating the vehicle while intoxicated. He was charged and eventually released with tickets for the Town of Ellicott Court.
— Deputies responded to a town of Dunkirk area business for a reported shoplifting in progress. Through investigation it was found that Zuleika Alvira Lebron, 39, Lillian J. Lebron Guzman, 59, and Zugeily J. Ramos Alvira, 24, all of Jamestown had taken property that did not belong to them. All three were charged with petit larceny and will be in town court later.
— CHAUTAUQUA — At about 4:30 p.m. Friday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a single vehicle property damage accident at East Chautauqua Street and Honeysette Road where the operator had fled the scene. On arrival, deputies were able to locate the male operator who was identified as Chad Gantz, 43, of Union City Pa. Through an investigation Gantz was found to be intoxicated and arrested for felony DWI, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, unlicensed operation, operating out of ignition interlock restrictions, failing to maintain driving lane, and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Gantz was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment.
JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
— A couple is facing charges after a Friday afternoon incident.
At about 3:32 p.m., officers responded to an Eastside address for an in-progress domestic dispute. Upon arrival, Officers observed Pedro J. Cruz, 41, outside the residence with visible facial injury. Officers also made contact with Glory B. Cruz, 35, who was on scene and immediately was yelling excitedly toward officers.
Through investigation it was determined that for approximately 30 minutes, prior to officers’ arrival, the married couple had been engaging in a verbal dispute that later became physical while in the presence of three of their juvenile children. During the physical altercation, Glory Cruz caused physical injury to Pedro Cruz’s face and ripped his sweatshirt. Pedro Cruz recklessly broke Glory Cruz’s glasses during the altercation, thus violating a refrain from order of protection.
Both parties were placed into custody without incident. None of the children were physically harmed from the incident. Pedro was charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree criminal contempt and fourth-degree criminal mischief. Glory Cruz was charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, fourth-degree criminal mischief and third-degree assault.
