CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

NORTH HARMONY – Thomas Matjoulis, 51, no address provided, was charged Monday at 6:30 a.m. with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI, and speeding following a traffic stop on Spoonder Road. He was taken into custody and later released with tickets. He will appear in the Town of North Harmony Court at a later date.

– Vanessa R. Stevens, 34, of Fredonia was charged with petit larceny at 10:03 p.m. for a March 5 incident at the Chautauqua County Jail. According to a police report, Stevens was being released from the jail on unrelated charges and allegedly stole jail property from the visiting lobby on her way out the door. On Tuesday Stevens was taken to the county jail on unrelated charges and arraigned for the alleged March 5 petit larceny.

– HANOVER – Marissa J. Moquin, 29 of Silver Creek, was charged Tuesday with criminal possession of a forged instrument. It is alleged that on Jan. 24 Moquin, 29 did write and deposit a check that did not belong to her. She will appear in the Town of Hanover Court at a later date and time.

– Three Jamestown residents face charges after a traffic stop for alleged traffic infractions at 8:55 p.m. Thursday on Newland Avenue near Prospect Street. During the course of the traffic stop, a man riding in the car allegedly tried to lie to officers about his name and was eventually identified to be Christopher Swanson who was charged with false personation. Through investigation it was found that an additional passenger, Brittney Washington of Jamestown, was allegedly in possession of fentanyl while the driver of the vehicle, Jeffrey Shriver of Lakewood, was allegedly in possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine and fentanyl. Inside the vehicle, officers located 30.4 grams of methamphetamine and digital scales. Swanson, Shriver and Washington were all charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. All three were taken to the city jail until they could be arraigned.

– Selena N. Hare, 32, of Jamestown was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and having outstanding bench warrants at 4:08 a.m. Sunday after officers responded to Brooklyn Square to check the well being of a person there. When officers arrived on scene they made contact with Selena N. Hare. Hare was found to have outstanding bench warrants for failing to appear in court. Officers placed Hare into custody and allegedly found her in possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine. Hare was taken to the Jamestown City Jail until she could be arraigned.

– Michael R. Shafer, 22, of Jamestown was charged with two counts of aggravated criminal contempt at 12:55 a.m. Monday after officers responded to a south side address for a domestic dispute. Shafer had valid orders of protection to stay away from two people inside of the residence. Police report that due to Shafer’s criminal history, he was charged with aggravated criminal contempt and was taken to the city jail pending arraignment.

– James R. Wall, 43, of Jamestown was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and possession of burglar tools as well as having active arrest warrants for third-degree burglary, petit larceny, fourth-degree criminal mischief and possession of burglar tools at 2:09 a.m. Wednesday after officers saw Wall walking near the Tops store on Foote Avenue. Wall was taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.

– Dakota J. Gibbon of Cassadaga and Angela B. Peru of Cassadaga were charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance at 8:49 p.m. Tuesday after a traffic stop on Falconer Street near Lakeview Avenue. Police report pulling a vehicle over for traffic infractions. Both Peru and Gibbon reportedly had outstanding arrest warrants issued by the New York State Police. Police then allegedly found Gibbon in possession of fentanyl while also allegedly finding cocaine in the vehicle that allegedly belonged to Peru. Both were taken to the city ail until they could be arraigned and then were released to the State Police to address their outstanding warrants.

– Joshua T. Berg, 35, of Jamestown was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday after officers working on a Gun Involved Violence Elimination hot spot detail saw Berg in the area of Prospect Street and McKinley Avenue knowing Berg had an active arrest warrant issued by Jamestown City Court. Berg was also allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine. Berg was taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.

– Heather M. Brown and Ralph R. Pratt III, both of Jamestown were charged after a traffic stop at 5:48 p.m. Tuesday on Allen Street near Institute Street. According to a police report, officers pulled a vehicle over for traffic infractions and reportedly could see drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle. Police report finding methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine inside the vehicle. Brown was charged with three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance while Pratt III was charged with one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Brown was taken to the city jail until she could be arraigned while Pratt was released with an appearance ticket to be in City Court later.

– Jared G. Leroy, 44, of Jamestown was charged with public lewdness at 3:05 p.m. Sunday after officers responded to a report of a person exposing themselves to passing motorists near Lakeview Avenue. Officers report seeing Leroy expose himself. Leroy was charged and taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.
