WCA Home announces director of nursing
Ruth Dougan of Westfield has been named director of nursing and coordinator of the Assisted Living Program at the WCA Home in Fredonia, Administrator Tammy McCool announced.
Dougan oversees the professional nursing and supportive services to all residents, which includes case management and medication distribution, and coordination with each resident’s primary care doctor. She supervises the WCA Home’s case manager, medication room manager, personal care aides, and home health aides. She is also the facility infection control officer, and executes policies as directed by the state Department of Health.
Dougan comes to the WCA Home from UPMC Hamot in Erie, where she was admission team nurse and critical care nurse. Prior to that, she was the emergency room nurse at Westfield Hospital, after moving to the area from Methodist Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, where she was a surgical and trauma nurse.
Dougan holds a bachelor’s degree from the State University at Old Westbury, an associate degree in nursing from Jamestown Community College, and an associate degree in human services from Alfred State College.
