Dunkirk marks Small Business Saturday with holiday market

Dunkirk will mark Small Business Saturday with its annual holiday market.

The event will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. downtown. It was moved from D and F Plaza a couple years ago in order to drum up interest in downtown Dunkirk’s business offerings.

Craft, gift and food vendors will be located at the Stearns Building, the Elks Club, the former P&G store, the Northern Chautauqua Catholic School gym, and other spots in the vicinity of City Hall. More than 75 businesses and vendors are set to participate.

Free horse-drawn wagon rides, provided by Laff’n Lyon Ranch, will be offered from noon to 4 p.m. The rides will be based at City Hall.

New this year is a gingerbread display at the Stearns Building. Next door, Central Station Restaurant is offering free hot cocoa for festival goers. There will also be holiday ice sculpture carvings, provided by Jamestown ice and Storage, in Stearns Court.

Music will be provided at City Hall by Footsteps at 11 a.m., Slim & Red at 1 p.m., and DJ Joe Gould at 3. Holiday dance routines will be offered by McKenna Academy of Dance and Danza! Performing Arts Academy.

Events for kids include holiday craft-making (noon to 4 p.m. at NCCS) and cookie frosting (11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Stearns Building).

Mayor Kate Wdowiasz will lead the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.

Starting at $2.99/week.
