Adult fitness opportunities

set in Gowanda

GOWANDA — Registration is open for boxing, yoga, pickleball, circuit training, DrumFit and yoga via the fall course offerings from the Community/Adult Education division of Gowanda Central School District.

Area adults interested in these fitness opportunities and more can visit www.gowcsd.org and navigate to the registration forms via the Community Connections drop-down menu.

League plans city candidate forum

The League of Women Voters of Chautauqua to host a live Meet the Candidates Forum on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. in Dunkirk City Hall. At 7 p.m., the mayoral candidates — David Damico and Kate Wdowiasz – will be featured. At 8 p.m. the forum will include Common Council candidates, which will be announced. The forum will be broadcast live on Dunkirk Access Channel 1301 and on the Dunkirk Access YouTube channel and will be available later on Dunkirk Access YouTube Channel.

County Auxiliary meets Thursday

WESTFIELD — Chautauqua County American Legion Auxiliary monthly meeting will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at John W. Rogers Post 327, 7579 E. Main Road. Units are encouraged to begin the new year with a positive awareness and responsibility to have a representative at county meetings.

Chicken barbecue on Sunday

FORESTVILLE — It’s almost time for the annual fall chicken barbecue. It will start at noon Sunday until sold out. Drive-through only! Pull up in front of the church and we will bring your order to you! Price is $12 per meal and includes a chicken half with famous marinade, tossed salad, potato salad, a roll and desert.

Club Associates meets Sept. 24

SHERIDAN — The Northern Chautauqua County Club Associates will have its first meeting of the season on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 10:30 a.m. in the Sheridan VFW, Route 20. Chris Pinkoski of Revitalize Dunkirk will be the guest speaker. She will talk about the tree situation at Point Gratiot Park.

Other meetings are as follows: Oct. 22 at the Dunkirk World War II Veterans Club; Nov. 19 at the Fredonia Beaver Club; Dec. 17 at the Dunkirk Elks Lodge. The annual installation banquet is scheduled for Jan. 27 at the Lake Shore Overseas Veterans Post in Silver Creek.

Any club member may attend these meetings.
