SOAR group meets today

SOAR Chapter 4-1 will meet today at the USW Local 2693 Union Hall on Fourth Street in Dunkirk. The meeting will begin at noon with lunch to follow. All SOAR members and retirees are invited to attend. For further information contact Jim Bickhart at 716-366-1485.

Park Commission plans Thursday meeting

There will be a Chautauqua County Parks Commission meeting Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Chautauqua County Airport Conference room. The public is welcome to attend.

Day of the Dead event planned for Nov. 1

The Art Discovery program invites the community to attend a celebration of El Dia de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead) in the Fellowship Hall of Fredonia Presbyterian Church, 219 Central Ave., Fredonia, on Friday, Nov. 1 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Please join the event for the installation of two ofrendas with artifacts, informational displays, traditional music and foods, and a chance for visitors to create a memento of a departed loved to add to the ofrenda, a place of joyful remembrance. All are welcome!

Sons of Legion meeting tonight

Sons of the American Legion Squadron 59 will be holding its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. today at Post 59, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia. Plans will be discussed for the upcoming drive-through Weidner’s Chicken BBQ on Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Post 59.

Saturday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m., the Sons of the Legion is hosting its annual Turkey Bingo with a new more traditional style of Bingo to be played. More details to-follow!

Vendor Show planned for Saturday

CASSADAGA — From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, the Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary will host their annual Vendor Show, in the Legion Hall, 228 Maple Ave. A large variety of vendors with something for everyone, & an opportunity for some early Christmas shopping too. There will be a homemade bake sale, and soup and sandwich lunch items for purchase. A great way to spend an autumn afternoon!
