Sons of Legion Bingo is Saturday
On Saturday, the Sons of American Legion Post 59 will be hosting its annual Turkey BINGO with a new more traditional style of BINGO to be played at 6 p.m. Members and guests are welcome at Post 59, 156 E. Main St, Fredonia.
Club Associates hold meeting
The Northern Chautauqua County Club Associates recently held their regular monthly meeting at the World War II Veterans Club, Lake Shore Drive East in Dunkirk. Director Bob Bankoski, welcomed the large crowd to his club rooms.
The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a moment of silence for all deceased club members. All member clubs were represented.
Secretary Jim Pryll read the minutes of the previous meeting, followed by a financial report by treasurer, Tom Halicki. Guests included Dunkirk’s first ward councilwoman, Natalie Luczkowiak, and Councilman-at-large Nick Weiser, who was guest speaker. Weiser first gave a short biography, followed by his take on the situation in the city, describing some of the projects currently in progress. He said the city has a lot of potential, and is confident in its future. He also thanked the clubs for their part in its success.
A discussion was held about current Liquor Authority rules, and all present were encouraged to vote in the upcoming elections.
The next meeting will be held at the Fredonia Beaver Club, Nov. 24, at 10:30 a.m. All club members are encouraged to attend.
The December meeting, and elections of Association officers, will be at the Dunkirk Elks Club.
Congregation meets on Sunday
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua (UUCNC), located at 222 Temple St. in Fredonia, holds a Sunday Worship Service at 11 a.m., both at their physical location and on Zoom. For those attending the in-person service, please follow the driveway and park in the lower lot behind the building. Handicapped parking is located between the two buildings and directly behind the second building.
The theme for November is Repair. On Sunday, the guest speaker is Bridget Majka and her message, “All are Deserving”.
As executive director of Chautauqua County Rural Ministry, she will talk about the agency’s mission statement, which includes. “All persons are deserving of food, shelter, clothing and work opportunity.”
She has a degree in Early Childhood/Child Advocacy and certification in Social Policy. She has worked at CCRM for 11 years and at Jamestown Community College as an adjunct instructor for eight years.
