SOAR meets on Tuesday
SOAR chapter 4-1 will meet Tuesday at USW Local 2693 Union Hall on Fourth Street in Dunkirk. The meeting will be at noon with lunch to follow. All SOAR members and retirees are invited to attend for further information call Jim Bickhart at 716-366-1485.
Post 62 hosting Black Friday event
Post 62 American Legion in Dunkirk is hosting a Black Friday band dinner. The band is Hooman. Mystic Smoke Barbecue will be doing the food. The food will be served from 5-8 p.m. and the band will be performing from 7-10 p.m. The legion’s address is 211 Central Ave.
St. Elizabeth plans empty creche collection
Once again, St. ELizabeth Ann Seton will be holding its annual empty creche collection. All Family Parishes are invited to help out.
— Week 1 – Dec. 1, First Sunday of Advent: Christmas Basket Project. Items needed include scarves, gloves, mittens, hats for children and adults.
— Week 2 – Dec. 8, Second Sunday of Advent: St. Gianna Molla Ministry. Items needed include baby clothes, diapers, baby blankets, booties and toiletries for babies. From infant to toddler are the specifics.
— Week 3 – Dec. 15, Third Sunday of Advent: Rural Ministry. Items needed include socks (men’s, women’s, children’s), winter hats and gloves, toiletries i.e. shampoo, bath soap, deodorant, body lotion, etc.
— Week 4 – Dec. 22, Fourth week of Advent: Hispanic Ministry for the Feast of the 3 Kings (Epiphany). Items needed include small toys, stuffed animals, etc.
Items can be dropped off during Mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, 328 Washington Ave., Dunkirk.
Special Santa visit planned at Fredonia church
On Sunday, Dec. 15 from 2 to 4 p.m, St. Paul Lutheran Church, 334 Temple St., in Fredonia, will be hosting a disability and sensory inclusive visit with Santa for special needs children and their siblings. This free event is for children who may find traditional Santa encounters difficult or overwhelming.
The church is completely wheelchair accessible, and our Santa has many years experience in working with children with disabilities. Festive refreshments will be served, and gifts will be given to all the children! Registrations are strongly encouraged.
