Grape Belt Seniors list coming events
Grape Belt Seniors meet on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays for Aerobics and weights class at the Masonic Lodge. Class is from 9 to 10 a.m. and the cost is $1 for each class. You have to be a member to attend. Dues are now required for 2025 and can be paid at the Lodge from 8:45 to 9 a.m. on days of class. New members are welcome to join.
The group will be having a potluck luncheon on Monday, Jan. 13 at the lodge beginning at 11:30. Just need to bring a dish to pass and be a member to attend.
The group has Dominoes on Fridays starting at 10:10 a.m. after class.
Day trips are now being planned for 2025 and they include the Yankees at Cleveland on April 21 or 22; Queen For A Day; Barrel Factory with Joel Dombroski; Niagara On The Lake; Attica & Arcade Train (Fall); Ain’t Too Proud at Shea’s. Fred Basket notes hours of service
On Saturday, Jan. 18, Fred Basket — previously known as The Fredonia Food Pantry — will be open from 10 a.m. to noon at Fredonia Presbyterian Church at 219 Central Ave.. Additional hours are Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. and Thursdays, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Guests may only receive one helping a month.
These new hours hope to serve those who cannot attend on Saturdays the food pantry serves the needs of residents of Fredonia, ZIP 14063, Pomfret, Sheridan, and Laona. All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food. Number of bags given out depends on family size.
Blood drive planned this month
ConnectLife, Western New York’s only community blood bank, has a blood drive planned for Friday, Jan. 31 at GX Warehouse Fitness & Wellness, 3469 East Main St., Dunkirk, from noon to 5 p.m. All blood donated stays in Western New York so donors know they are saving lives in their community. All donors will get a Buffalo Bills cross-body bag. They can schedule at connectlifegiveblood.org or calling 716-529-4270.
Ripley school board meets Wednesday
RIPLEY — A regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Ripley Central School District will be on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Superintendent’s Office (Room 119) of the Ripley Central School for the purpose of any and all items that come before the board.
County Health Board meets Jan. 16
MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua County Board of Health will hold its quarterly meeting on Thursday, Jan. 16, at 6 p.m. in the HRC Building, Fourth Floor Conference Room, 7 N. Erie St. Comments received from the public will be accepted as communications, and not read during privilege of the floor. Public comments at the meetings during the privilege of the floor must be made in person.
