VFW Auxiliary meets in Sheridan

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan VFW Auxiliary met Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the VFW Post 6390. Members present discussed various items during the meeting such as our monthly donations to veteran related organizations and updating our standing rules. District 6 news was shared with members.

The Auxiliary is planning a bake sale at the post on Friday, Feb. 7 at 4 p.m. This will coincide with the weekly fish dinner and the Lakeshore Flea Market. Stop in for fish, shopping and have a dessert. The post is planning a Valentine’s Day themed bingo for Sunday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. Light refreshments will be served during an intermission. Admission is $10, which includes one set of bingo cards. There will be additional cards available for sale.

All prizes will be Valentine’s themed. Our next meeting will be Feb. 10 at 6:30. We are always desiring new members. If you are related to a veteran of a foreign war please consider joining.

Silver Creek play rescheduled

SILVER CREEK — The Silver Creek Central School District Drama Club’s performance of William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” has been rescheduled for Thursday and Friday, Jan. 30 and 31, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Tickets can be purchased online at silvercreekhs.seatyourself.biz.

SCOPE meeting planned for Tuesday

MAYVILLE — S.C.O.P.E. is the Shooters Committee on Political Education. The next Chautauqua County SCOPE meeting is Tuesday at 7 p.m. Please join discussions on “Defending the rights of New York gun owners” at VFW Post 8647, 10 Memorial Drive. Meetings are open to the public.

Library planning activities Monday

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Sinclairville Free Library is pleased to announce we will be open on Monday on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The library will be open our regular hours from 2 to 7 p.m. There will be Martin Luther King Jr. activities available for school-aged children. Makerspace featuring LEGOs, marble runs and crafting will be open. Miss Jessica will also have out a LEGO STEM Box where whatever you build is yours to keep. Activities will be available from 2 to 6:30 pm. Parents and caregivers must stay with their child. Free and open to the public.

Bills Boosters gather Sunday

The Southern Tier Bills Booster Club will watch the Buffalo Bills vs. Baltimore Ravens playoff game on Sunday at the First Ward Falcon Club in Dunkirk. Snacks will be provided and members may bring a food item to pass, but it is not required.Game time is 6:30 p.m.
