Veterans 4 Christ meet Saturday

BROCTON — This coming Saturday, at 10 a.m., Veterans 4 Christ will be having their free monthly brunch for veterans, active-duty military and guest. The brunch is at Tri-Church Parish, located at 41 E. Main St., Brocton. There will be an ample quantity of Paula’s Donuts, along with carafes of coffee to start the morning.

Brunch will be a homemade meal. This month there will not be a guest speaker and this will allow time for conversation with former acquaintances and time to make new friends.

Area associate earns financial planner certification

Chadwick Bay Financial Services has announced that David “Mick” Dunning, CFP, has obtained his Certified Financial Planner certification with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board).

Dunning, a financial adviser, specializes in coordinating and interacting with clients on a variety of financial matters including retirement planning, investment management and estate planning. The CFP marks identify those individuals who have met the rigorous experience and ethical requirements of CFP Board, including having successfully completed financial planning coursework at an accredited college or university and passed the six-hour comprehensive CFP® certification exam.

The exam covers the following areas: Professional Conduct and Regulations, General Principles of Financial Planning, Risk Management and Insurance Planning, Investment Planning, Tax Planning, Retirement Savings and Income Planning, Estate Planning and Psychology of Financial Planning.

Dunning is a graduate of SUNY Fredonia and a lifelong member of the Fredonia community, along with his wife and two children. After a 13-year career in the banking industry he made the switch to advising clients on achieving their financial goals nine years ago.

Humane Society marks 120 years

JAMESTOWN — The community came together to celebrate the Chautauqua County Humane Society’s 120th anniversary at the Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union Training Center.

During the celebration, Executive Director Jane Babinsky unveiled the new logo, colors, mission and vision statements, and core values. She said, “We are breathing new life into CCHS as we also are going to be embarking on a capital campaign this year to upgrade our facility to be compliant with New York State’s new Animal Cares Act. We all do what we do because we want to provide the best care possible for the animals in our care and to assist the community with providing services for the care of all animals.”

County Executive PJ Wendel was in attendance to recognize the history of CCHS and the importance of the work done by the organization. “The passionate people that are here and 120 years of sustainability is evident of the dedication, commitment, and passion you all have for animals.”
