Republicans seek candidates in Sheridan

SHERIDAN — Sheridan Republican Town Chairman Terry Niebel said the Republican Party is actively looking for candidates for this year’s General Election.

“Some incumbents are seeking re-election,” Niebel said, “but we are looking for candidates for the positions of: Town Supervisor, Town Council, and Town Justice.”

“In the past, the Town Republican Party has been able to attract good, dependable candidates. The only agenda for these candidates has been to work for the betterment of the Town of Sheridan. I’m confident that we will find similar candidates again this year, and they will be as well received by Sheridan voters as they have been in the past,” said the Town Chairman.

General Election Day this year is Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Anyone interested in running for a Sheridan Town office on the Republican line, is asked to contact Terry Niebel at 716-785-5531, or Kathy White at 716-679-0299.

Coldest Night walk planned for Feb. 22

JAMESTOWN — YWCA Jamestown is thrilled to announce the return of its Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) walk, taking place at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22. This family-friendly event will begin and end at the Winter Garden in Jamestown, offering participants a meaningful way to support local housing programs while enjoying food, music, and warmth by the fire after the walk.

Participants can register online now at cnoy.com/jamestown.

Those unable to attend in person can still make a difference by walking remotely or pledging funds to support other walkers.

Last year, YWCA Jamestown raised over $15,000 through CNOY, supporting the Transitions Supportive Housing Program. This vital program provides housing and case management support services for single women and women with children who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Transitional housing provides a unique and critical component in addressing homelessness by offering up to two years of stable housing paired with supportive case management.

This year, YWCA Jamestown has an exciting new development to share. In addition to continuing support for Transitions, funds raised from the event will help expand housing services at the newly established Empower Her First House, a partnership with First Lutheran Church of Jamestown. This initiative will nearly double the organization’s housing capacity, enabling YWCA Jamestown to provide transitional housing services to even more women and children in need.

For more information, contact YWCA Jamestown at 716-488-2237.

Starting at $2.99/week.
