Air Force band plays in Gowanda Sunday

GOWANDA — The United States Air Force Heritage of America Band will present a free concert on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Gowanda’s Historic Hollywood Theater. The theater is located at 39 W. Main St. This will be a family event and the Colors will be presented by Vets from the Gowanda American Legion.

Sons of Legion meet March 25

The Sons of American Legion Squad 59 will be holding its monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 25 at 7 p.m. at Post 59, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia. Plans for the annual meat bingo in May 2025 will be discussed and finalized. The election for Son’s of American Legion Squad 59 for 2025-26 is May 27. All SAL Squadron 59 are encouraged to attend the meeting.

NCCS plans chicken barbecue

Northern Chautauqua Catholic School in Dunkirk will host a Weidner’s chicken barbecue this Sunday at Holy Trinity Church in Dunkirk. It is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m., with pre-sale dinners guaranteed until 2:30. The event is drive-through only. The price is $15.

Final ‘Curious and Creative Conversations’ set

The third installment in the Curious and Creative Conversations Series at the State University of New York at Fredonia will be presented Wednesday, March 26, at 11:30 a.m.

Three faculty members from diverse fields/disciplines will each present a 10-minute “lightning talk” about the details of a scholarly, research or creative project they’ve undertaken.

All presentations in the Reed Library Garden area are free and open to the public.

Presenters in the final installment of the series in the spring semester are Associate Professor Megan Urban of the Department of Visual Arts and New Media; Professor Jessica Hillman-McCord of the Department of Theatre and Dance; and Assistant Professor Christopher Puglisi, who is clinical training director of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program.

Faculty will share stories about their research/creative journey and offer tips for the next generation of scholars and artists. A question-and-answer session follows each presentation.
