Community invited to contribute to Thrifty Panther

GOWANDA — Are you doing some spring cleaning? If so, Gowanda High School can help! Community members are invited to donate gently used and cleaned spring & summer clothing to the Thrifty Panther until April 17.

The Thrifty Panther, a free resource for all students, is also accepting new school supplies, deodorant, chapstick, toothbrushes, & toothpaste.

Drop off at GHS on weekdays between 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Indoor yard sale, fair planned

There will be an indoor yard sale and vendor fair, at the East Dunkirk Fire Department 10949 S. Roberts Road, Dunkirk, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29. There will also be a basket raffle, 50-50 drawing and refreshments.

Legion Auxiliary holds monthly meeting

CASSADAGA — The Cassadaga American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 held its regular monthly meeting Tuesday with 10 members attending. Chaplain Paula Pattison is sending our cards to members as needed.

Unit 1280’s membership is at 95½% paid for the year. They are still taking 2025 dues, please send $30 to Unit 1280/Cassadaga 14718 or stop by the Post and pay.

Unit 1280 held Empire Girl State interviews and Gia Knott of Gerry will be the representative at the 2025 Empire Girls State program at SUNY Brockport, Monday, June 30 to Sunday, July 6. Junior girls from around New York State gather together to learn about our state’s government. It was noted that the 8th District Spring Conference will be held Sunday, May 4 in Bliss. Plans are in the works for our annual Rummage/Bake Sale to be held in the back hall Saturday May 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

While “spring cleaning” please remember our event, one person’s trash is another’s treasure! If you have something to donate it can be dropped off at the Post after May 10, but please, no appliances, computers, electronics, or exercise equipment.

Unit members present voted to donate money to the Sinclairville 76ers. The next Unit meeting will be Tuesday April 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Legion Post.
