Choir sets Sunday

concert

On Sunday, the Fredonia Community Choir will present their spring concert at 7:30 p.m. The featured work will be Requiem Novum by Swedish composer, Martin Jansson. They will be accompanied by a small chamber orchestra consisting of community players and music students at SUNY Fredonia.

Dr. Jennifer Townsley will be soloist and a double quartet of choir members will be highlighted. This is a hauntingly beautiful piece in which the choir sings wonderful settings of the traditional Requiem Mass texts and the soloist offers hope and encouragement from beyond.

The free concert will be at 55 W. Main St., Studio on Main. Parking is available on East Main Street as well as the community lot behind the studio.

Opportunity for a Free Will Offering will be available any donations will allow this group to continue to make beautiful music for your enjoyment.

15th annual Garden

Faire is May 17

SILVER CREEK — The seeds have been planted for an event later this year in the village of Silver Creek.

The 15th annual Garden Faire, presented by the Silver Creek Hanover Garden Club, is set for Saturday, May 17, beginning at 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Silver Creek Village Square.

The Garden Faire will feature a plant sale, artisan crafts, garden decor, activities for children, and various local organizations on hand.

Preparations for the event at the Village Square will begin the day prior, as approved by the Village Board. Vendors may begin setting up at 6 a.m. on May 17.

Winery names new

marketing director

FORESTVILLE – Merritt Estate Winery has announced the hiring of Jamie Decker, formerly the executive director of the Southtowns Regional Chamber of Commerce to their marketing team to help steer the vision for the future of the winery.

Before becoming Executive Director at the Chamber, a role Decker has served for the past two and half years, she was hired as the Marketing Director in 2015.

Decker stated, “I am excited to begin a new journey with Merritt and help grow their business throughout NYS and PA. The Chamber was a great experience, and I enjoyed my decade long run working with local small businesses and community leaders. I’m looking forward to focusing on a local business that already has a great history and presence throughout the region and help grow their award-winning brand.”

Merritt Winery was established in 1976 and will celebrate their 50th anniversary next year. They have a vision to strengthen their brand. Decker brings more than 20 years of marketing and sales experience to the team.
