Legal aid fundraiser for local corrections officers, families

A fundraiser for area corrections officers will be at Gowanda Moose 1382, 201 Aldrich St., 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Tennessee Whiskey donating to play live, $20 a ticket at door, or presale. Stations of the Cross today

Blessed Mary Angela Parish invites residents to their annual youth-led Stations of the Cross at 6 p.m. today at the church of St. Hyacinth is located on Lakeshore Drive in Dunkirk. Children and young adults of the Lord’s Vineyard of Parishes are welcome to read the stations, lead the prayers or just walk along with us as we continue to celebrate the Season of Lent. Anyone interested in participating is asked to arrive at 5:45 p.m.

Steel retirees to meet Saturday

The AL Tech, Dunkirk Specialty Steel Retirees will meet Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at Demitri’s Restaurant, Lake Shore Drive West, in Dunkirk. All retirees are invited to attend.

Congregation plans Sunday service

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua (UUCNC), located at 222 Temple St. in Fredonia, holds a Sunday Worship Service at 11 a.m., both at their physical location and on Zoom. For those attending the in-person service, please follow the driveway and park in the lower lot behind the building. Handicapped parking is located between the two buildings and directly behind the second building.

The theme for April is Joy. On Sunday, join us for “Permission to Seek Joy … Even Now” with Karin Cockram. Cockram will talk about what joy might look like, why it’s important, and how to allow one’s self to experience it.

Fredonia Memorial Post 59 plans Easter ham bingo

The Fredonia Memorial Post 59, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia, will hold an Easter ham bingo on Saturday, April 12 from 6 p.m. until all prizes are awarded. The cost is $3 per round, or $25 for all rounds. There will be ham prizes, sausage prizes, a 5-pound lamb raffle, ham dinner raffle, jewelry raffle, door prizes and snacks. All proceeds benefit veterans and programs of Fredonia American Legion Post 59. The event is for members and eligible guests.

Holiday fare at food pantry

The Fredonia food pantry, Fred Basket, at 219 Central Ave., serves seniors, students and families in need. This holiday month, it is able to provide ham or Cornish hens, thanks to the USDA food grant program. It is open Wednesdays 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 12 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Ripley sets board meeting

RIPLEY — A regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Ripley Central School District will be held on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Superintendent’s Office (Room 119) of the Ripley Central School for the purpose of any and all items that come before the board.

PVCS plans kindergarten roundup

SOUTH DAYTON — Pine Valley Central School will host Universal Pre-Kindergarten Roundup for children entering in the fall on May 20 and 21.
