Dyngus Day party set for April 21

SILVER CREEK — A Dyngus Day party will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 21 and cost $17 per person. The event will be at the Firehouse on the Lake, 23 Jackson St.

The event includes Crockski’s Pierogies, Polish sausage, mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, salad and dessert. There also will be a cash bar.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Ukrainian Relief. For tickets, call Mary Fran at 716-934-4197 or Laurie at 716-622-7485. The event is sponsored by Hanover Democratic Club.

Family breakfast set for Sunday

Due to Easter falling on the third Sunday this year, Forest Lodge 166 F&AM is moving this month’s Sunday Family Breakfast up to April 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This all-you-can-eat breakfast will consist of eggs made to order, pancakes or French toast, sausages, fruit cocktail, juice, milk, coffee and tea.

Adults and teenagers 13 and up are $12; children, 5-12, are $6. Youth under 5 are free. This breakfast is open to the public, and everyone is welcome and cordially invited to attend. All you can eat is eat-in-only.

In other news at the Lodge, in recent meetings, the members discussed plans to reach out to organizers for the Lafayette “Farewell Tour” Bicentenial celebrations, which will be taking place in early June in Fredonia. Also discussed are plans to participate and organize events surrounding next year’s America 250 anniversary celebrations, as many of the nation’s Founding Fathers were members of the fraternity.

It was also announced in sadness, that two long-term members of Forest Lodge, Brothers David Carr, and Donald “Duke” Ellington, had recently passed.

Anyone with interests in, or has questions about Free Masonry will be given a tour of the building at the asking. Forest Lodge is located at 321 East Main St., Fredonia.

Rummage sale planned in South Dayton

SOUTH DAYTON — There will again be a giant rummage sale at the South Dayton Fire Activity Hall, 34 Maple St. It will be Friday, May 2, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, May 3 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is a bag sale Saturday at noon and a bake sale both days.

Congregation plans Justice Sunday

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua (UUCNC), located at 222 Temple Street in Fredonia, holds a Sunday Worship Service at 11 a.m., both at their physical location and on Zoom. For those attending the in-person service, please follow the driveway and park in the lower lot behind the building. The theme for April is Joy. This week, it will be Justice Sunday with Rev. Ron Skowronski and Janey Wagner.

What is Justice? Does Justice actually exist or is it a figment of imagination? What is the history of Justice? Does it have a future? In this treatment of this most significant issue, Wagner and Skowronski will team up to present a most thought-provoking presentation on Justice.
