The Dunkirk City School District stands behind a student club that is planning a drag show fundraiser. However, the show is postponed.

The Gay Straight Alliance originally scheduled the event for Nov. 2. According to Jennifer Westerholt, the district’s communications director, “Since district event procedures were not followed prior to publicizing the school’s GSA club event which was planned for Nov. 2, that event has been postponed.”

Westerholt, speaking Tuesday afternoon, added that the district’s “administration will work with students and club advisers to plan a future event.”

At least five people have contacted the OBSERVER recently to report the Gay Straight Alliance’s previously planned event.
