Brocton man charged in August city shooting
A 20-year-old Brocton man is in Chautauqua County Jail after being charged in a shooting that took place over the summer in the city of Dunkirk.
Around 6:40 p.m. Aug. 14, the Dunkirk Police Department began investigating the report of a shooting incident that occurred in the 300 block of Washington Avenue. Dunkirk officers responded to the scene, along with the Dunkirk Police K9 unit and members of the Detective bureau.
After the investigation, it is believed an altercation occurred in the area, resulting in Davon J. McCall, from Brocton, allegedly shooting and striking a male victim in the leg. The victim was transported by private vehicle to Brooks-TLC Hospital and later transferred to the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo for non-life-threatening injuries.
After the incident, a warrant was issued by Dunkirk City Court and it was believed McCall had gone to Massachusetts. McCall was located and taken into custody in Massachusetts by the United States Marshals, where he was held as a fugitive from justice before being transported back to the city of Dunkirk for arraignment. McCall is being held on $100,000 bail on charges of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and felony second-degree assault.
