Due to worsening road conditions, the City of Dunkirk Police Department, in cooperation with the Mayor’s Office, DPW, and DFD, is issuing a travel advisory until further notice. Non-essential travel is strongly discouraged.

Hazardous conditions include:

— Strong winds and heavy, blowing snow may cause drifting, downed trees, and power lines.

— Downed power lines. Always assume any downed line is live and energized. Maintain a safe distance of at least 35 feet.

—- Traffic signals. Treat intersections as a four-way stop if traffic lights lose power.

Important reminders:

· Keeping vehicles off the road will help facilitate snow plowing and ensure emergency vehicles can access the streets safely.

· Residents are asked to follow alternate parking regulations to assist with snow removal efforts and allow easier access for emergency responders.
