City teen charged in social media threat to school

A 15-year-old juvenile has been charged in connection with an online threat to the Dunkirk High School that had been posted to the social media platform, Snapchat.

Recognizing the importance of the situation and the need for a quick response, Dunkirk officers began investigating the incident, working in close contact with the Dunkirk School District administration, the Dunkirk School Resource Officer, and the Dunkirk Police Detective Bureau.

In collaboration with the local FBI office, the investigation has concluded with a charge against a city teenager. The 15-year-old juvenile was charged with state Penal Law section 240.78, Making a Threat of Mass Harm and will be in Family Court at a later date.
