Silver Creek man injured in hunting accident
HANOVER — An accident Saturday morning seriously injured a hunter near Buffalo Road.
Around 10:05 a.m., the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office received report that a deer hunter had sustained a gunshot wound near Buffalo Road. It was determined that Nicholas Stalker, 23, of Silver Creek, and Bobby Ackerman, 34, of Irving, were deer hunting at a property. While hunting, Ackerman attempted to go down a steep hill when he fell to the ground causing his muzzleloader to accidentally discharge.
Stalker, who was standing nearby sustained a gunshot wound to the leg as a result of the discharge. Stalker was transported to Erie County Medical Center by Silver Creek Fire Department for serious injuries.
