Garages destroyed in morning Westfield fire
WESTFIELD — Two garages were destroyed early Friday in a village fire.
Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department reports at around 3:27 a.m., the Westfield Fire Department responded to 31 Grove St. The fire resulted in a complete loss of the garage and a neighboring garage. After extinguishing the fire, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation team was requested to the scene to conduct an origin and cause fire investigation. Investigation found that the fire was caused by a complication during the fire starting process while using a wood stove in the garage. The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was assisted on scene by the Westfield Police Department.
Also responding to the incident were departments from Portland, North Lake, Brocton, Ripley, Emergency Services, Ellery Center and Sherman.
