David Spann seeks re-election in Westfield
WESTFIELD — David Spann is running for re-election to the Westfield Town Board on Nov. 7.
Spann has been a resident of Westfield for the majority of his life, and graduated from Westfield Academy and Central School in 1988. Continuing his education, he pursued a forestry degree from the College of Environmental Science & Forestry at Syracuse graduating in 1991, then graduating from SUNY Cobleskill in 1993 with a degree in fisheries and aquaculture. Upon graduation he worked for an environmental consulting firm in the Buffalo area for five years until he was presented with a job opportunity that would allow him to return to his roots here in Westfield.
Currently, he is employed with The Chautauqua County Soil & Water Conservation District as the District Field Manager. A portion of his duties include assisting the agricultural community to ensure the efficiency of their operation, and assist them to maintain compliance between state and federal agencies. Additionally, he acts as project field coordinator for numerous environmental projects in Chautauqua County. Spann brings assurance that the project proceeds as scheduled and is responsible for all permitting processes with regulatory agencies. Spann’s responsibilities include developing and implementing construction efforts with contractors and community projects.
Spann owns and operates Land Management Services. His services are structured to encourage stewardship and ensure sustainability of natural resources through forest management and habitat development. Spann helps landowners to understand and develop natural resources on their properties. Spann currently manages over 5,000 acres of properties. In 24 years Spann has developed an array of professional skills and a strong work ethic.
More recently Spann and his family has developed Steelhead Run Recreation Area, LLC. near their home in Westfield. They have two vacation rental properties on the shore of Lake Erie that have proven to be quite successful. They have drawn in visitors from all over the country over the past 5 years. While visiting, the guests have had the opportunity to explore much of Western New York. Moreover, Spann’s vacation rentals continue to promote our local businesses in Westfield. We have even had people move into our community as a result from visiting Steelhead Run.
Spann has been married to his wife Barbara for 19 years and they have two children, Anthony (16) and Morgan (14). Their children both attend school in Westfield. As a young family in the 21st century, they understand the complex issues that all people, young and old, are facing in America today.
Spann continues to enjoy his service on the Westfield Town Board. He has a vested interest in this community, and will continue contributing in making sensible decisions for our community. Common sense decision making and sound ethics have been an integral component of his efforts while serving. Spann will continue to accept the commitment and dedication necessary to perform the town board position effectively. Spann would like to also thank the residents of Westfield for their continued support.
