Girl Scouts hold safety event
The Chadwick Bay Girl Scout Service Unit recently held a bike and road safety event as part of Girl Scout World Thinking Day at the Dunkirk rec center. The 50 girls in attendance learned bike safety tips from Dunkirk police officers and took a pledge to not text and drive at a table sponsored by Putnam Record Insurance. Each troop also brought a poster display that taught some aspect of bike or roadway safety and presented it to the other troops. Prizes were awarded to the top three posters. Girls then had the opportunity to do some winter bike riding along with some games. Everyone in attendance brought non-perishable food items or personal hygiene products that were donated to Chautauqua County Rural Ministries.
