Miss Kulig & Miss Perry’s classes celebrated their Foster Grandparent, John Blackman, for Veterans Day. “Grandpa John” served in the U.S. Army state-side, as well as in Germany from 1973-1975. He also served part time in the National Guard from 1987-89. On the Friday before the long weekend, he explained to students his role as an infantryman and heavy equipment mechanic. Students were taught to salute, come to attention & at ease. The students in both classes gifted him with handmade poppies, artwork, a poster and a gift certificate to one of his favorite local restaurants here in Dunkirk. The classes truly appreciate everything Grandpa John has done for our country and School 3. He is a hometown hero!
