Chautauqua Opportunities hosting safe house supply drive
Through the month of September, Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. is hosting a supply drive to collect items for homeless youth served at the Safe House emergency shelter.
The Safe House is in desperate need of the following: personal hygiene items (toothpaste, shampoo, soap, feminine products, etc.), hairbrushes, hair ties, non-perishable food, pillows, socks, underwear, twin size linens, paper products, towels, and washcloths.
Donations will be accepted in Dunkirk at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, and Holy Trinity Church – as well as all COI locations in Jamestown and Dunkirk. On Friday, September 16, staff will be collecting donated items outside of Walmart in Fredonia.
The Safe House is a voluntary, short-term, crisis intervention shelter program for youth under the age of 18. Services include emergency shelter for runaway and homeless youth, counseling, Life Skills training, health and mental health services, and more. The Safe House serves an average of 60 youth annually.
