The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said a 48-year-old Brockport man was killed Friday when he was struck by a vehicle while walking across Route 60. The accident occurred at about 6 p.m. near the Kwik Fill in Fredonia. In a news release, the Sheriff’s Office said an investigation determined that a pedestrian — later identified as Richard Lorek — had entered the road when they were struck by a northbound vehicle being operated by a Cassadaga woman. “The Fredonia Fire Department responded to the scene and Lorek was treated for serious injuries,” the department said. “Lorek was transported to Brooks Hospital by ambulance, however later succumbed to his injuries.” No charges were filed as a result of the investigation. The Sheriff’s Office said it was assisted by the Fredonia Police Department and the New York State Police.
