Free young artist recital set for Halloween
FREDONIA – The 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center will present a special free-admission recital featuring some of the most talented young artists from the State University of New York at Fredonia’s School of Music on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Presented in partnership with Ekstasis Duo’s Eliran Avni and Natasha Farny, the performance is part of a concert initiative created by the Duo. The recitals feature both solo and chamber ensemble performances by the next generation of classical musicians in the inviting and intimate setting of the Opera House.
Designed to provide the young artists the opportunity to perform in a variety of settings to a broader audience, the initiative also serves to strengthen the relationship between the Opera House and the School of Music.
The recital program will feature music by J.S. Bach, Jennifer Higdon, Mozart, Poulenc, Schubert, Strauss, and more. With this recital falling on Halloween, expect some appropriately spooky fun to be part of the performance. Admission is free, although donations are gratefully accepted.
Opera House programming is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and by the United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County. Free admission events are supported by the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation Arts & Culture Initiative administered by the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo.
The 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center is a member-supported not-for-profit performing arts center with a mission to “present the performing arts for the benefit of our community and region … providing access to artistic diversity … and high-quality programming at an affordable price.” It is located in Village Hall in downtown Fredonia.
