Georgia Woman Charged With Stealing Money From County
A Georgia woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing money from Chautauqua County.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, after an investigation spanning over a year, deputies have filed charges against Nikita Robinson, 38, of Augusta, Ga.
It is alleged that Robinson was part of a fraud incident during which Chautauqua County was targeted.
Investigation revealed that Robinson received a large sum of money that had been fraudulently obtained from Chautauqua County. With the assistance of the Chautauqua County Finance Department and a financial institution, a significant amount of the stolen money was able to be recovered.
On Monday Robinson was arraigned in Chautauqua County on the charge of second-degree grand larceny and was later released.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Department of Homeland Security, Georgia Law Enforcement and the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s office.
