Wdowiasz proclaims Disability Employment Awareness Month
Dunkirk Mayor Kate Wdowiasz has proclaimed October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month in the city.
According to Wdowiasz’s proclamation, Congress established the month in 1988 “to raise awareness of the employment needs and contributions of individuals with all types of disabilities.”
She continues, “Workplaces welcoming of the talents of all people, including people with disabilities, are a critical part of our efforts to build an inclusive community and strong economy.”
Wdowiasz goes on to recognize the Resource Center in Dunkirk, which “provides training, employment opportunities and support to over 200 people with disabilities and other challenges in obtaining and maintaining community employment at approximately 217 businesses in our community.”
