County seeks input for Northern Waterfront Revitalization Plan
JAMESTOWN – The Chautauqua County Department of Planning & Development is conducting a community survey in an effort to gain feedback from the public to assist in the development of the Northern Chautauqua Local Waterfront Revitalization Programs.
A Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) is a locally prepared land and water use plan for a community’s developed, natural, public, and working waterfronts. It provides a comprehensive framework within which a community’s vision for its waterfront can be formalized. Working in partnership with the NYS Department of State, a community reaches consensus on the future of its waterfront, establishes local policies, and outlines the implementation techniques it will use to achieve its vision. LWRPs are being prepared for the Towns of Dunkirk, Hanover, Pomfret, Portland, Ripley, Sheridan, Westfield, the Villages of Silver Creek and Westfield, and the City of Dunkirk.
The survey is a follow up to previous public meetings that were held regarding the development of the Northern Chautauqua Local Waterfront Revitalization Programs. The first public meeting provided an introduction to what an LWRP is, the planning process, a look at boundary maps, and a discussion on inventory to be included in the plans. The second public meeting focused primarily on potential projects to include within each community’s LWRP. At the meeting, the public was asked to identify which projects they felt were most important for their community and the public was provided an opportunity to give general feedback on the list of proposed projects and any other potential projects that they felt should be considered.
The goal of this survey is to gain additional public input on proposed projects, which are to be included within each community’s LWRP. To access the survey, please scan the QR Code below or visit the project website at www.northernchqlwrp.com. The survey will close on Dec. 23.
