Hanover seeks funding for park upgrades
HANOVER — Two charitable organizations have been asked to help continue restoring and improving a park in the hamlet of Forestville.
The Town of Hanover is seeking grant funding from the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation in the amount of $35,000 to continue to make improvements to Bicentennial Park on King Road. A grant application will be submitted on behalf of the Town by J.F. Grant Consulting Services to the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation’s Legacy Fund of Greater Buffalo.
The Town also plans to request an additional $10,000 from the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation to support the project. The total project cost of $45,500 includes two additions to Bicentennial Park’s usable space around its recently renovated pavilion, which features an indoor kitchen with utilities. A canopy will be installed to add to the space. The playground area will also be extended to include a swing set. If the necessary grant funding is secured, the Town hopes to do the work early this upcoming spring.
Town residents, taxpayers, and employees may rent Bicentennial Park’s facilities at a cost of $50 per day plus a $100 security deposit, which will be returned upon verification that no damage occurred and all guidelines were followed.
Security cameras were recently installed at Bicentennial Park, but that is not the only place the Town has increased its security measures. The Town Clerk’s Office recently underwent improvements to its security, and similar measures are eyed for the Town Court. The Town is seeking quotes for the necessary improvements.
The next meeting of the Hanover Town Board is Monday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hanover Town Hall and Court. The second meeting of the month of December has been moved to Friday, Dec. 27 at 3 p.m. for bookkeeping purposes to close out the 2024 calendar year.
