Jaroszynski arraigned in election misconduct case

An Ellicott town judge who unsuccessfully ran for a countywide post has been arraigned in Erie County for election violations.

Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced Tuesday that Sally A. Jaroszynski, 57, of Falconer, was arraigned before Hamburg Town Judge Carl W. Morgan on two counts of misconduct in relation to petitions, unclassified misdemeanors.

Keane said one count was dismissed by their office due to proof problems.

It is alleged that on March 26 in the town of Ellicott, while being a notary public, Jaroszynski did sign and notarize a designating petition for the Conservative Party for Chautauqua County Family Court Judge, by acknowledging she witnessed a signature when she was not, in fact, present.

The Erie County District Attorney’s Office was appointed as special prosecutor for this case due to a conflict of interest in Chautauqua County.

Keane commends the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division for their work on this case.

The case is being prosecuted by Chief Gary Ertel of the Special Investigations and Prosecutions Bureau.

Jaroszynski, who is one of two judges for the town of Ellicott, ran unsuccessfully for Family Court Judge.

A registered Republican, Jaroszynski ran a primary against Peter Johnson for the Conservative Party line, which she lost.

Johnson, the endorsed Republican candidate or Family Court, defeated Jaroszynski who ran on the Working Families line, 35,196 to 11,623.
