Principal named speaker for King luncheon
The theme for the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Luncheon to be held at the Clarion Hotel on Monday, Jan. 20 is “We Won’t Go Back … Unity=Strength.” Guest speaker for the luncheon is Kisun Peters.
Peters is currently the principal at School 3 and the Director of Early Learning (UPK) for the City of Dunkirk School District.
Born and raised in New York City, Peters during his early years was an impecunious young person. He quickly developed a desire to pursue a career in service.
Events in his childhood led him to St. Bonaventure where he obtained his undergraduate degree in psychology and graduate school in counseling and public education. Throughout his life, he retained a desire to learn. Thus, he is now pursuing his doctoral degree at the University of Pennsylvania.
After graduating from St. Bonaventure University, Peters worked serving adults with special needs in residential outpatient care. Seeing the number of clients who were entering their late teens and school-aged receiving some assistance via an IEP, led him to his degree in counseling.
It was after he received his counseling degree, he began to work in public schools. He pursued a career in education administration and has remained serving in various roles for over twenty years.
The public is invited to attend. For reservation information, please contact Loretta Slaton Torain at 716-363-1102.
