State Sen. George Borrello joined the corrections staff in their ongoing strikes to demand better working conditions and adequate staffing levels. On Saturday, he stood with correctional officers and staff who are calling attention to the dangerous and deteriorating conditions within state prisons. He made stops in Attica, Collins and at Brocton, which is pictured here. State Assemblyman Andrew Molitor also attended in Brocton. Last week, corrections staff across New York State initiated strikes due to the increasingly unsafe working conditions within the state’s correctional facilities. These hazardous environments have resulted in numerous injuries to officers and staff, jeopardizing their physical health and morale. Despite these challenges, Borrello said corrections staff receive little support from state leadership — Gov. Kathy Hochul has failed to act, and the legislature continues to push pro-criminal policies that exacerbate the situation.
