Dave’s Wonderland in Silver Creek closes

SILVER CREEK — Nearly two years after opening its doors, a Main Street store has closed.

Dave’s Wonderland Outlet store in Silver Creek is now officially closed. A Facebook post from a since-deleted account, Dave’s Outlet Store, stated, “Dave’s Outlet is permanently closed effective immediately.”

Dave’s Wonderland Outlet took over the sizable 18 Main Street building previously occupied by Petri Baking. The store opened in February of 2023.

Owner Dave Gordon opened the store as one of three stores in Western New York at the time – along with locations in Chaffee and Cheektowaga – to serve as an in-person presence for his online retail business, Xmas Dave LLC. The Silver Creek location served as one of seven warehouse/distribution centers for the company across Western New York.

It is unclear whether the retail store’s closing will impact the future of the warehouse in Silver Creek. The Town of Hanover and the Village of Silver Creek both had not heard of any plans from the store as of Friday afternoon. Only the Silver Creek and Cheektowaga retail locations were listed online as of Friday afternoon, and neither location could be reached for comment during regular business hours.

In recent years, the majority of Gordon’s business has come from online domains daveschristmas.com, which he has owned since its inception, and christmas.com, which was acquired from a “cyber-squatter” who purchased the domain name but never operated a business under its name.

The previous tenant of the building, Petri Baking, closed its doors in 2013. The 140,000 square foot facility required extensive renovations of approximately $1 million to be transformed into a viable warehouse for Dave’s Wonderland.

Starting at $2.99/week.
