Crews from a number of area departments were on the scene around 1 p.m. Saturday for a fire at 9 First St. in the village of Westfield. Responders from the village, town, Ripley and Dewittville and the county Emergency Services were at the location. Witnesses at the scene reported that occupants were safely out of the structure. After extinguishing the fire, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene to conduct an origin and cause fire investigation. It found that the fire originated in the kitchen and was caused by a cooking accident.
